Our Story

Hi, I'm Jimena - the face behind TVA - a community where you are celebrated for being one of a kind. 

 

 My love of vintage started when I was a little girl. When I moved to the US from Peru at the age of five, I grew up in a single-parent household, where thrift store outings with my mom became our special adventures. Together, we spent hours searching through racks of beautiful, unique vintage pieces, fueling my passion for timeless fashion.

 

As I got older, that passion kept growing. To help pay for college tuition, I began repairing and selling designer accessories on Poshmark. Though selling vintage didn’t bring in much money, I often found myself daydreaming about owning my own vintage store one day, and getting to do it full time.

However, soon after, the pandemic hit and I graduated college. I struggled to find a traditional job and relied on various side gigs to make ends meet, including selling on Poshmark and Depop. Month after month, I interviewed, only to face rejection after rejection. Finally, I realized that this might be my chance to pursue my dream - owning my own vintage brand.

So, in the summer of 2021, I took a leap of faith, and The Vintage Ave was born (originally known as The Vintage Plug). My business started out of a tiny 300 square ft apartment that I shared with a roommate in downtown Miami, while I continued to work my various odd jobs. Today, running The Vintage Ave is my full-time job. I have a wonderful team and an incredible community of clients that believe in our mission to embrace individuality through vintage.
